Sarah Yeates
Sarah Yeates offers piano and voice lessons at Muse Mantra. She graduated from Houston Christian University with a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance and honors distinction
From a young age, Sarah fell in love with music and singing. She grew up in the Houston area performing whenever she could before going to college to study classical music and the Bel Canto style of singing.
Sarah has been a professional singer in the Houston area for years now. Whether it is being hired by churches and choirs for solos, performing for events, or full-length productions in Musical Theater and Opera, Sarah has done it all. In the summer of 2022, she performed in AD Players Theater Company’s production of The Sound of Music.
In the summer of 2023, Sarah traveled to Italy to perform as a leading character, Susannah, in the Brancaleoni International Music Festival’s opera, The Marriage of Figaro. She has also performed numerous leading roles at HCU including Zerlina in Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni and Hero in Berlioz’s Beatrice et Benedict.
Sarah is an endorser and frequent competitor of the NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) association and their competitions. She has won many of their Musical Theater and Classical Competitions both at the city and regional levels, including winning first place in their Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico classical voice competition consecutively in the years 2021 and 2022. In 2023, Sarah was honored to receive the Byrd Memorial Music Scholarship Charitable Trust.
Sarah has a great love for both the Musical Theater and Classical style of music. Her opinion is that music theory, technique, musicianship, and performance are all important aspects of learning piano and voice.
With over three years of experience teaching Voice & Piano Lessons, Sarah has always believed in the joy music brings into one’s life and the gift of sharing it with others. Whether you have come to Muse Mantra to discover something new, explore your talents, or dedicate yourself to proficiency, Sarah is excited and ready to help you achieve your goals and enjoy the many gifts of music.
Voice Lessons
With beginners, we start with a basic understanding of breathing mechanisms, body alignment and resonance through vocal exercises and simultaneously proceed with an appropriate repertoire.
With advanced singers, we keep working on all aspects of vocal technique including vowel alignment and modification, diction, range, and other aspects related to the repertoire of their choice (classical vs. music theater and CCM). We include “vocal coaching” in lessons as well, which is accompanying students on piano, helping with learning new repertoire, stylistic, and overall musicality.
