This summer, muse mantra is offering fun, hands-on group workshops in The Woodlands, TX for students ages 8 and up who want to explore music in a creative way.

Each workshop is a 3-day class, from 11 AM to 1 PM, giving students 6 total hours of creative learning and hands-on experience.

Hands-On Music Workshops for Ages 8+

Sound Effects Studio

Students will create sound effects and simple music for cartoons and silent films using everyday objects, instruments, and found sounds. They will learn how sound brings stories to life while practicing timing, teamwork, and matching sounds to video in a fun, hands-on project.

Music Tech 101

Students will build simple instruments, explore how sound is made, and discover how traditional instruments, MIDI technology, and beginner music software work together to create and record music.

Available Dates: July 6th to July 8th 

Songwriting Workshop

Students will collaborate to write an original song, exploring lyrics, melodies, chords, rhythms, and instrument choices. They will also get hands-on experience with beginner recording techniques, MIDI instruments, and music software while learning how songs are produced in a digital workspace.

Available Dates: July 13th to July 15th​​

Who Can Join?

These workshops are open to students ages 8 and above. No advanced experience is required. We’ll help guide students toward the workshop that best fits their age, interests, and skill level.

What are the Summer Music Workshops?

Our Summer Music Workshops in The Woodlands, TX are fun, beginner-friendly group classes for students ages 8 and up. Each workshop gives students a chance to explore music in a creative, hands-on way while working toward a finished project by the end of the class.

How long is each workshop?

Each workshop runs for 3 days from 11 AM to 1 PM. That gives students 6 total hours of guided learning, creativity, and hands-on experience.

How much does each workshop cost?

Each 3-day workshop is $175.

Does my child need music experience to join?

No. These workshops are beginner-friendly and do not require advanced music experience. As long as your child is interested in music, sound, creativity, or trying something new, they should be able to participate and enjoy the class.

Does my child need to bring an instrument?

No. Students do not need to bring an instrument. Any instruments, tools, or materials needed for the workshops will be provided.

For Sound Effects Studio, students may bring a small, safe object from home if they want to experiment with it for Foley sounds. This is completely optional. Please avoid anything valuable, breakable, messy, or too noisy outside of class.

What is Sound Effects Studio?

Sound Effects Studio is a creative workshop for students who enjoy movies, cartoons, games, acting, storytelling, or exploring how sounds are made.

Students will use everyday objects, instruments, and found sounds to create sound effects and simple music for a cartoon or silent film clip. They will learn how sound brings a scene to life while practicing timing, teamwork, and matching sounds to what is happening on screen.

Is Sound Effects Studio a good fit for my child?

Yes, especially if your child enjoys movies, animation, games, acting, storytelling, sound effects, or creative problem-solving. It is also a great option for students who may not want a traditional instrument-focused class but still enjoy music and sound.

What is Music Tech 101?

Music Tech 101 introduces students to how music is created using today’s tools. Students will explore music software, digital instruments, MIDI, and how traditional instruments can connect with technology.

They will learn beginner concepts like creating sounds, using digital tools, and combining instruments with a digital setup.

What is MIDI?

MIDI is a digital music language that lets instruments, like an electronic keyboard or drum pad, communicate with music software. It helps the computer understand what notes or rhythms to play, which means one instrument can create many different sounds, such as piano, drums, flute, bass, or electronic sounds.

Is Music Tech 101 a good fit for my child?

Yes, especially if your child likes experimenting with sounds, trying different instruments, using technology, or creating music in different ways. It is also a great starting point for students who may be interested in music production but are not sure where to begin.

What is the Songwriting Workshop?

Songwriting Workshop is for students who are interested in creating an original song. Students will work together to explore basic chords, lyrics, rhythm, melody, song structure, and how different musical parts fit together.

Each student can contribute in a way that fits them, whether that is through lyrics, melody ideas, rhythm, instruments, or vocals.

Does my child have to be a singer to join Songwriting Workshop?

No. Students do not have to be singers to participate. Songwriting includes many creative parts, such as lyrics, melodies, rhythm, instruments, and ideas. Each student can contribute in a way that feels comfortable.

How do I choose between Songwriting Workshop and Music Tech 101?

If your child enjoys singing, writing lyrics, playing an instrument, making up melodies, or learning how songs are put together, Songwriting Workshop may be the better fit.

If your child is more interested in making beats, creating sounds, using music software, digital instruments, microphones, cables, or the technology side of music, Music Tech 101 may be the better fit.
